When fabric is the better executive choice
Rooms where people are meant to relax rather than be impressed. An HR office, a small meeting room, a practice or clinic: leather in those spaces can read as cold, and fabric does not.
It is also more comfortable over a long sitting, because it breathes better than bonded leather and does not stick in summer.
What you give up
Wipe-clean convenience, which is the main reason leather holds on in client facing boardrooms. And a degree of formality, which matters in some rooms and not others.
If heat is the concern rather than formality, mesh executive chairs sit between the two.
The specification to check
Fabric wear rating. Executive chairs are often used less than task chairs, so a lower rating can be acceptable, but in a shared meeting room the usage is closer to task seating than people assume.
