Sit-stand desks let one person move between sitting and standing through the working day at the touch of a button. They are the single most requested item in modern office fit-outs, and the change most likely to be noticed by the people using them.
Why height adjustment is worth the extra outlay
A sit-stand desk costs more than a fixed-height desk of the same size. What you get for the difference is the ability to change posture without leaving the desk. Standing for part of the day eases pressure on the lower back, and simply moving between the two positions tends to matter more than which position someone spends longer in.
The practical test is how easy the desk is to raise. Every desk in this range is electrically adjustable, because a desk that takes effort to change is a desk that stays down. Manual crank models are cheaper, and they very reliably end up used as ordinary fixed desks within a fortnight.
Choosing between our ranges
- Air is the full specification: the widest choice of sizes, the most accessories, and the range to pick if you want one system across a whole floor.
- Air Lite trims the specification for tighter budgets while keeping the electric mechanism.
- Oslo Air matches the Oslo boardroom tables, worth choosing if meeting furniture needs to coordinate.
- Black Series is the same engineering in an all-black finish, popular in studios and creative spaces.
Specifying the top
Every desk here comes with either cable ports drilled through the top or a scalloped cut-out along the back edge. Ports are the standard. A scalloped edge gives a continuous channel, so cables can pass through at any point along the width, which is the better answer if your floor boxes might move.
Cable management is not optional
A desk that moves needs cabling that moves with it. A fixed cable run that is neat at sitting height becomes taut at standing height, and taut cables pull plugs out of sockets. Every Air desk has a matching flexible cable spine designed to extend and retract with the frame. Specify it at the same time as the desk rather than discovering the problem after installation.
Single desks or bench runs
These are single-person desks. If you are equipping a team, look at our back-to-back sit-stand desks, which put two rows of people on one shared frame and use noticeably less floor area per person.
What people forget to order
An anti-fatigue mat. Standing on a hard floor for two hours is its own problem, and a mat costs a fraction of the desk. Our ergonomic accessories range covers mats, footrests and lumbar supports.
