Chairs rated for the work they actually do
Chairs built and rated for heavier users and continuous use, including the Austin task operator and the Houston high mesh back. Reinforced frames and stronger gas lifts than standard office seating.
Two different reasons to specify one
User weight is the obvious one. Standard office chairs are rated to a typical figure, and beyond it the gas lift and base wear out early rather than failing dramatically.
Hours are the less obvious one. A chair used across three shifts does roughly three times the work of a normal office chair. Control rooms, security desks and 24 hour operations get through standard seating fast, regardless of who is sitting in it.
What is actually different
A stronger gas lift, a reinforced base, and usually a wider seat. The gas lift is the part that fails first on an overloaded chair, and it is the part that gives least warning.
If chairs keep failing
Repeated failures in the same position are a specification problem, not bad luck. Before replacing like for like again, check the castors are right for the floor in our chair spares and parts range, then move that position to heavy duty.
