Padded task seating, and who it suits
Upholstered task chairs for people who prefer a padded back to a mesh one. Includes the Barcelona deluxe high back and heavy duty Austin models. Mesh gets the attention, but plenty of people find a foam back more comfortable and there is nothing wrong with that.
Why choose fabric over mesh
Warmth, in a building that needs it. A mesh back in a cold office in January is a genuine complaint, not a preference.
Feel, for people who dislike the firmness of a tensioned mesh panel against the spine. And appearance, in rooms where a solid back looks more settled than a see-through one.
The specification that actually matters
Fabric wear rating. Office upholstery is abrasion tested, and a chair specified for domestic use looks tired within two years of real office life. Everything here is contract grade.
The second is foam quality. Cheap foam compresses and never recovers, and a flattened seat pad is a chair nobody wants to sit in regardless of what the back is doing.
For heavier use
The Austin models are rated for heavy duty, and our full heavy duty range covers 24 hour environments and heavier users with reinforced frames and stronger gas lifts.
