Why a house sofa fails in an office
A domestic sofa is designed for a couple of people, a few hours a day, treated reasonably. An office sofa takes dozens of people, all day, treated with no particular care, plus cleaning products.
Contract frames and contract fabric are rated for that. The difference shows up in year two, when a domestic piece has flattened cushions and worn arms and a contract piece has not.
Choosing for the space
Reception seating is seen by every visitor and used by few, so appearance justifies more of the budget than the usage suggests. Breakout seating is the opposite: heavy use, less scrutiny, buy for durability.
If the area is larger than a corner, modular seating will fit the space better than trying to arrange separate sofas.
Do not buy in isolation
